'Brangelina' Wine Goes On Sale In UK - Would You Drink It?

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie's wine from their French vineyard has gone on sale in a UK supermarket for the first time after winning rave reviews from critics.

Marks and Spencer is stocking a limited supply of the 2014 Miraval Rose and has urged those seeking a taste of Hollywood via a Provence vineyard to "get in quick".

The £18-a-bottle wine is produced at the couple's Chateau Miraval estate, where they married in August last year, in conjunction with the Perrin family of Chateau de Beaucastel.

Wine Spectator ranked the first vintage at number 84 in its list of the top 100 wines of 2013, making it the only rose to be included, while Decanter magazine described it as having "a sense of power alongside the elegance ... with a delicious mouth-watering finish".

The wine has sold previously in the UK through specialist wine merchants but M&S is the first to offer it up on the high street, describing it as an "intriguing pale pink rose with strawberry, white pear and floral aromas" with summer berry, wild herb and tangy tangerine flavours balanced by a refreshing acidity.

M&S drinks buyer Emma Dawson said: "We're excited to be launching what could well be the most famous rose in the world.

"Not only does Miraval boast A-lister owners, it's a really lovely crisp rose, perfect for summer drinking."

She added: "This rose is best enjoyed lightly chilled, while young and fresh, and makes an excellent aperitif or matches with many Provencal style dishes such as fish, vegetables and salads."

The 2014 Miraval Rose is available in selected M&S stores now.

A Restaurant Owner Saw A Man Eating Food From Bins Outside, So She Left Him This Note

When Ashley Jiron noticed a man taking food from bins outside the restaurant she owns, she didn't turn a blind eye or shoo him away.

Instead, she invited him inside her sandwich shop P.B. Jams in Oklahoma City for free meal, by leaving a note in the restaurant window.

Saw this outside of P.B. Jams today. #thatswhatlovelookslike

The note - which went viral after a man named Greg King posted it on Instagram on Friday - reads: "To the person going through our trash for their next meal. You’re a human being worth more than a meal from a dumpster.

"Please come in during operating hours for a classic PB&J, fresh veggies, and a cup of water at no charge. No questions asked."

Jiron's sign has since gained attention on Twitter, with many people applauding her act of kindness.

Local news site KFOR asked Jiron why she decided to leave the note.

“I think we’ve all been in that position where we needed someone’s help and we just needed someone to extend that hand," she said.

"If I can be that one person to extend that hand to another human being then I will definitely do it.”

Women's Make-Up Throughout History: What Will Be The Next Trend Revival?

$

Beauty trends are cyclical: In the 1980s Brooke Shields brought bold eyebrows into fashion; in the nineties Kate Moss set a trend for wearing them super thin; and now the bold brow is back thanks to Cara Delevingne.

But when it comes to changing standards of beauty, eyebrows are just the tip of the iceburg - a new BuzzFeed video shows just how dramatically the ideal has shifted from one century to the next and from one continent to another.

So which of the following historical trends is due a revival?

(We're placing our bets on the glued on unibrow.)

Ancient Egypt (c. 3150 - 31 BC)

Eyes: Lined with kohl and eyelids were often painted with green or blue eyeshadow.
Lips: Popular lip colors included orange, red, blue-black, and magenta.
Hair: Often braided, hair was worn long to frame the face.

Ancient Greece (c. 800 - 500 BC)

Eyebrows: Unibrows were considered the height of beauty and women not lucky enough to be blessed with one naturally would often glue animal fur between their existing brows... yikes.
Eyes: Shadow in a natural shade so as not to detract from the power brow.

Lips: Coloured with lip rouge - an early predecessor of lipstick.

Skin: Heavily dusted with powder.
Lips: Bold lip rouge was all the rage.
Forehead: It's not often the forehead has it's beauty moment, but in the Elizabethan era it was considered a sign of great beauty to have a large forehead, and many women shaved their hairline and their eyebrows to make theirs appear larger.

Skin: It was fashionable to draw beauty marks on cheeks with charcoal - but many women didn't stop there, they also drew veins on their décolletage - perhaps this was an early precursor of contouring your cleavage with bronzer?

Queen Victoria publicly stated that wearing makeup was impolite, and so ushered in an age of 'the natural look' - in other words, make-up that doesn't look like you're wearing make-up.

Hair: Worn long but swept up at the back of the head in a chignon.

Lips: Pale pink lipstick was the height of fashion.

Cheeks: A hollow look was created using different shades of blusher to contour.
Hair: The bigger, the better. Wear a large bouffant wig if need be.

The Cut's clips go a little further than BuzzFeed's fun tutorials and provide a fascinating insight into how changes in a country's economy and political landscape are reflected in the appearances of the women who live there.

The Truth About Eyelash Extensions: Are They Worth The Fuss?

$

For those who hanker after the Zooey Deschanel doe-eyed look, eyelash extensions are a tempting beauty treatment, as they hold the potential to give you longer and thicker lashes than ever before.

But, as Shannon Ray from beauty blog Gloss & Dirt points out, they also have the potential to make you look like one of the Muppets or, if they come unstuck, like Goldie Hawn in Death Becomes Her.

Thankfully Ray has volunteered to try out the trend, so we can see the results in this Allure Insider video.

eyelash extensions

Ray has silk and synthetic mink lashes applied, (terrifyingly you can also go for lashes made from actual mink fur, which is brushed off live minks).

Each false lash is attached to a natural one and, depending on the client, anything from 80-150 lashes can be applied per eye.

At $250 (£171), it's pricey, and because it's such an arduous process - the application can take around one and a half hour - it's best to do your research before booking a salon, to avoid any costly mistakes.

Find out about the products the salon uses and whether they're certified to do the treatment - if not they may not have the right training or they could use cheap products that can damage your eyesight.

To keep the lashes in their best shape, refrain from touching your eyes and don't use any oil-based makeup or waterproof mascara, as this will break down the glue.

Check your makeup bag, as your eyeliner and eyeshadow could be potential culprits for an eyelash massacre.

With the natural shedding process, you'll need a top-up every two to three weeks, which means getting fill-ins just like with acrylic nails.

The bottom line is eyelash extensions involve a far greater investment in terms of time and money than mascara - but if you go into the process with your eyes-open you can achieve some eye-popping results.

Baileys Women's Prize for Fiction Shortlist Announced

$

For female authors, getting the recognition you deserve in literary circles can be almost impossible.

The majority of literary prizes are dominated by men. To date, there are 13 female Nobel Laureates compared to 94 men since the prize began in 1901, 18 female Pulitzer Prize winners since 1948 compared to 42 men, and 16 female Man Booker Prize winners since 1961 compared to 30 men.

And frankly, it's just not good enough.

That's why the Women's Prize For Fiction is so important. It aims to redress the gender imbalance in the industry.

The shortlisted titles for 2015 were revealed by this year’s Chair of Judges, Shami Chakrabarti, on Monday evening in London.

baileys prize

Speaking at the long list announcement last month, Chakrabarti, said that there is still a long way to go before female authors get the recognition they deserve.

“We are still nowhere near where we should be,” said Chakrabarti. “I also don’t think women are getting their due in other literary prizes. I am still surprised at some of the lists and comments made by judges and chairs of judges elsewhere, so I don’t think it’s time to end a women’s prize.”

“I think we do need to keep celebrating women’s fiction. We need to celebrate women generally and there’s nothing more powerful than stories,” said Chakrabarti. “We need to celebrate stories by women, for women, as just one more way to redress gender injustice.”

Judges (L-R): Laura Bates, writer and founder of The Everyday Sexism Project, Cathy Newman, presenter at Channel 4 News, Shami Chakrabarti, (Chair), director at Liberty, Helen Dunmore, novelist, poet and winner of the inaugural Orange Prize for Fiction, and Grace Dent, columnist and broadcaster

Set up in 1996 to celebrate and promote international fiction by women to the widest range of readers possible, the Baileys Women’s Prize for Fiction is awarded for the best novel of the year written by a woman. Any woman writing in English – whatever her nationality, country of residence, age or subject matter – is eligible.

The winner will receive an anonymously endowed cheque for £30,000 and a limited edition bronze figurine known as a ‘Bessie’, created and donated by the artist Grizel Niven.

Bestie Break: How To Escape Grey Old London For Mickey And Paris

$

0
What's the plan for the weekend? Same old drinks in the same old bar followed by the same old late night bite waiting for a cab under a windswept umbrella? Or indulging in a spot of magic with your best friend while basking in the glow of the bright lights of Disneyland Paris?

Call your bestie. Start the adventure. Here are 9 top tips on how to plan the fun fest...

SEE ALSO:

1. What to pack
Bring heels if you want to hit the bars at Disney Village or the evening entertainment at your hotel, but for the parks, you'll need footwear made for walking. You'll be most comfortable in jeans or shorts by day, and of course sunnies for all those selfies with Disney stars. If you're staying at one of the Disney poolside hotels, don't forget your swimming costume. Most of the hotels have a well equipped gym, perfect for working off any indulgences!

2. When to go
Disneyland Paris is an all-year-round destination. In spring and summer there's a fantastic buzz in the parks, and the attractions stay open a bit later; in autumn you get the fabulous Halloween festival, while at Christmas, the whole park becomes an enchanted wonderland. And of course there are fireworks and parades at all times of the year. Top Tip: There are plenty of offers (and smaller queues) outside of the usual school holidays, so make sure check online for the latest deals.

3. Getting there
Getting to Disneyland Paris couldn't be easier. One minute you can be having breakfast at home, and the next? Lunch at Disneyland Paris! From London St Pancras it's just a 2 hour, 45 minute journey directly to Disneyland Paris Marne-la-Vallée/Chessy station, which is literally at the gates of the Parks. Another great thing about travelling by train is that you don't have to worry about luggage allowance (although the usual security measures apply as at airports, so don't be tempted to pack more than you can carry - you still need to be able to lift your case on to the train).

4. What to do when you get there
Once you've checked in to your hotel and unpacked, it's time to hit the parks. The stroll down Main Street towards Sleeping Beauty's Castle and the entrances to the different lands is guaranteed to make you skip, however old you are. Make sure you pick up a map from the gates (or you can use the clever Disneyland Paris mobile app on your phone, which has maps, ride details and waiting times).

5. What to see and do
There are so many amazing rides at Disneyland Paris, your biggest challenge is trying to fit it all in. The Toy Story Parachute Drop, Tower of Terror, Aerosmith's Rock 'n' Rollercoaster, RC Drop and Ratatouille: The Adventure at Walt Disney Studios Park, Indiana Jones and the Temple of Peril, Space Mountain: Mission 2 and Buzz Lightyear Laser Blast at the Disneyland Park... the ride literally never stops. Refreshingly, all attractions are included in the price of your entry ticket, so once you're in, all the rides are free. And when it gets dark, the fireworks begin, and Disney Village turns into party central.

6. Ways to make every second count
Fastpass. We can't stress this enough. It's genius in its simplicity: get a Fastpass ticket for the most popular rides, arrive at your allotted time, beat the queue. Be careful not to waste time wandering aimlessly - decide in advance which rides and attractions you want to see.

7. What to eat
The great thing about Disneyland Paris is that whatever food you fancy, you can find - and a lot of the restaurants are themed; for Eastern-inspired food head for Agrabah Café at Adventureland, for fish and chips go to Toad Hall at Fantasyland and a burger at the 50s-themed Annette's diner in Disney Village is a must. There's even a Pizza Planet, just like in Toy Story. You'll also find fabulous cuisine at the restaurants at the Disneyland Paris hotels; plus of course all that great theme park snack food like hot dogs and candy floss (here they call it barbe à papa).

8. What to buy
T-shirts, sweatshirts, Christmas decorations (everyone should have Tinkerbell on the top of their Christmas tree, right?), fridge magnets, soft cuddly Mickey and Minnie Mouse plush toys, sweets and a few tubs of barbe à papa for the guys back at the office.

9. When you get home...
Beware the Disneyland Paris withdrawal! Symptoms include cuddling the Mickey plush you bought for your niece/nephew and sobbing as you sing It's a Small World After All, or asking if you can Fastpass at the bus queue. But then there's always another weekend to plan for your next magical getaway.

Coachella Controversy: Man Sparks Outrage After Wearing 'Disgusting' Slogan T-Shirt To Festival

You know when you see something that makes you genuinely rub your eyes in disbelief?

This is one of those moments.

eat sleep rape repeat coachella

A man at Coachella has sparked mass outrage after sporting a t-shirt with the slogan 'Eat, Sleep, Rape, Repeat'.

Managing Editor of Vice, Jemayel Khawaja, spotted the guy and snapped a shot of him looking incredibly proud of his fashion choices, which some argue promotes "rape culture".

While the California-based festival is known for attracting quirky fashion choices, this is a step too far.

Khawaja tweeted the picture with the caption: "This guy wins the award for worst fashion/lifestyle choices at @coachella. I'm not easy to offend, but this is shitty."

Twitter users were quick to share their anger and branded the unknown man's actions as "disgusting" and a "disgrace".

Caitlin Roper, a campaigner for women's rights group Collective Shout, tells HuffPost UK Lifestyle that the fact shirts like this even exist is further evidence that we live in a "rape culture", where crimes of violence against women are trivialised and reduced to the punch line of a joke.

"I’m pleased to see this t-shirt has been condemned, it is a sign that many people are unwilling to accept this type of humour - humour at the expense of women and survivors of rape and sexual violence.

"I’m sure there are people who will argue it’s ‘just a joke’ or ironic, but why are we supposed to accept ingrained misogyny as just a bit of fun?"

She continues: "This is not merely an issue of ‘offence’, it's not about whether individuals are offended or not. The issue is that this is a statement that is openly threatening and hostile to women, in a culture where up to a third of women experience physical or sexual violence at the hands of men."

Roper adds that it's particularly important for men to speak out against these offensive jokes.

"Silence can be interpreted as tacit complicity," she says. "Now more than ever we need men to speak against the degradation of women."

It's like 'Jaws'... but without the threat.

Yes, Caroline Winch was having a lovely time swimming off the coast of Florida with her friends, when a friendly manatee appeared in the water.

The the video capturing this moment has now gone viral, thanks to Winch's priceless reaction. (Warning: it contains mild swearing. We did say the reaction was priceless.)

“It was really big, it was a lot bigger than I thought," Winch later told US news show 'Inside Edition'. "It was like very large, I was thinking it had teeth and I was starting to think it’s a shark’s cousin, it could hurt me. I could die out here, my mom would not see me again, I was very nervous.”

Thankfully, Winch didn't die - what with manatees being herbivores, an' all - but is instead a global internet star. As for the manatee - well, if only it had had the presence of mind to do this:

Rebel Wilson Dresses As A Victoria's Secret Angel To Make A Powerful Body Image Statement

All hail Rebel Wilson.

The superstar made a powerful body image statement this weekend, when she walked on stage at the annual MTV Movie Awards dressed as a Victoria's Secret Angel.

Rebel arrived at the awards wearing a black dress with a cape lined in hot pink, but she quickly changed into the Anegl outfit to join her Pitch Perfect 2 co-stars to share a new clip from the upcoming movie.

Just like the supermodels du jour, who walk the annual VS fashion show dressed in underwear and angel wings, Rebel sported huge white wings as well as a fringed bralet, black winged trainers and black leather trousers.

She also had the word "think" written in bejewelled letters on the seat of her trousers. A nod perhaps to Victoria's Secret 'Pink' range, which is aimed at college students. " We're for the independent spirit on campus," reads the pink section of their website. "True of heart, intelligent, and inspired!"

Rebel's message was simple: we need more body image diversity. To continue to hold up one female body type is damaging.

"In Pitch Perfect, we're called The Bellas, which means beautiful, and we have a whole bunch of different girls in the group who are all different shapes and sizes and nationalities," she said in the press room after the show.

rebel wilson

"I think one of the good messages in the movie is that you're all beautiful and that sometimes girls will look at Victoria's Secret models and think they have to model themselves after that, but I really don't think that's the best. Even though they're called models, they're not the best people to model themselves after," she added.

"I'd like to encourage other girls to think that way, which is why I put [the word 'think'] on my butt. It's about what's up here [points to her head] and not what's here [points to her bottom]."

rebel wilson

In a recent interview with Elle UK, where she is this month's cover star, Rebel admitted that she was once quite a reluctant fashion icon.

"I am the type of girl with zero fashion sense but I am getting into it now. It’s becoming important for me. I saw a lot of girls were beginning to notice what I wear and I feel a kind of responsibility, because there aren’t any women in Hollywood my size and age," she said.

Amen to that.

Breath Test Could Help Detect Stomach Cancer, Say Scientists

A breath test could help save thousands of people by detecting the development of stomach cancer, scientists have suggested.

Stomach cancer, also known as gastric cancer, is a relatively uncommon cancer that affects about 7,300 people each year in the UK.

Because the initial symptoms are often mistaken for other health complaints and there is no effective early-stage screening test, it is usually diagnosed when it is too late to save lives.

breathalyzer

A study led by the Technion - Israel Institute of Technology found a new type of technology called nanoarray, which senses tiny changes in the levels of particular compounds in exhaled breath, was able to accurately identify high-risk changes signifying the development of stomach cancer.

Researchers suggest the technology could be used to check patients' risk of stomach cancer, and if it is deemed high they could be tested with a conventional endoscopy.

A major study involving thousands of patients, including those with stomach cancer or pre-cancerous symptoms, is now under way in Europe to test the technology's suitability as a screening method.

The research, which is published online in the journal Gut, concluded that the "attractiveness of this test lies in its non-invasiveness, ease of use (therefore high compliance would be expected), rapid predictiveness, insensitivity to confounding factors and potentially low cost".

River Island Sells Book That 'Jokes About Domestic Violence' And Twitter Is Not Happy

River Island have found themselves once again in Twitter's firing line, after a book making "jokes about domestic violence" was found in on sale in their Staines store.

The book, called "Really Blokey Jokes" by Jake Harris, was spotted by 20-year-old student Tim Doble, who took a photo and promptly posted the image to Twitter.

The image angered other Twitter users who have labelled the book "horrific" and "inappropriate". The tweet has had more than 450 retweets (and counting).

Doble told HuffPost UK Lifestyle that the book was in the accessories section of men's sale, "along with the other various novelty paraphernalia that never sells there".

HuffPost UK Lifestyle contacted River Island concerning the book, and they responded with the following statement: "River Island shares the concern expressed about this particular product. Our business has been family owned and run since its foundation over sixty years ago and our success has been built on doing the right thing by our customers and colleagues - the majority of whom are women.

"We removed the book from our stores as soon as it was brought to our attention and we have also taken steps to strengthen our controls internally to ensure an inappropriate product such as this could not find its way into our stores again. In the meantime, however, we want to apologise to our customers for any offence caused.”

A spokesperson from the book's publishers, Summersdale Publishers, told HuffPost UK Lifestyle: "The book was published in 2011 and it is now out of print. I believe River Island has now withdrawn its remaining stock from sale."

But when asked why they decided to publish a book containing jokes of a violent nature in the first place they declined to comment.

Polly Neate, chief executive of Women’s Aid, told HuffPost UK Lifestyle that domestic violence is no laughing matter.

“We would hope that a responsible retailer would not stock this book. Jokes that make light of domestic violence undermine the serious nature of it," she said.

"Worst of all, they undermine the victim, perpetuating a culture of misogyny that means that women are less likely to speak out against the perpetrator. On average, 2 women a week in England and Wales are killed by a partner or ex-partner. Domestic violence is not a joke.”

Meet The Man With Two Girlfriends Who Gives Advice On How To Experiment With Traditional Relationships

Adam Lyons lives with his girlfriend Brooke Shedd. He also lives with his girlfriend Jane Shalakhova.

On his popular YouTube channel, 34-year-old Lyons says he was once voted the "least likely to get a girlfriend at school".

But he now has two of them, and gives dating advice to others online.

Lyons was in a relationship with Shedd, 26, when the pair decided to "explore adding other people" in a very casual way.

"Then we met Jane and everything just seemed to fall into place," he says in the video above.

Lyons, originally from East London, now lives with Shedd, Shalakhova and their two children.

He and Shedd have a son together, called Dante. Shedd has another son from a previous relationship, called Oliver.

news dog media

"I think a lot of people look at our relationship and say 'that's really strange, he's obviously some kind of evil player and he's manipulated them'," Lyons says.

"There are other people who say 'I wouldn't want to expose my children to three parents'. But I think what people need to realise is that, nowadays, three parents is kind of the norm."

Lyons compares the arrangement with his two girlfriends to that of divorced parents, but says his children benefit because all three of their parents still live in the same house.

"They're raised in an environment where we're loving, we look out for each other and we care for each other," he adds.

Shalakhova agrees that three parents is better than two for everyone involved.

"Three people is better than two because there is more people and more fun," she says.

"There are two more people to help out out when you're down or if you have any troubles."

Shedd adds that she doesn't necessarily think three people are better than two, but it works for them and that's all that matters.

'My Implants Saved My Life': Mother Reveals How Boob Job Alerted Her To Breast Cancer

A mother-of-three has revealed how a boob job helped her to detect breast cancer and, as a result, saved her life.

Leza Davies-Brown, from Telford, Shropshire, was sorting through some washing when she knocked one of her newly enlarged breasts against a door frame.

The 33-year-old was then alerted to a small pea-sized lump on her breast, which she later found was cancerous.

Davies-Brown, who is a semi-permanent makeup technician, wanted to have her breasts increased from a 34A to a 34D after she found that breastfeeding had left them sagging.

She saved up £4,000 to pay for the confidence-boosting breast implants and was thrilled with her new look.

"I thought they would improve how I felt about myself. I didn't know they would save my life too," she said.

Around 55,000 people are diagnosed with breast cancer in the UK each year. Just over 80% of breast cancers occur in women who are over the age of 50.

Nearly half of all cases are diagnosed in people in the 50-69 age group.

Davies-Brown noticed a small lump on her breast in April 2012 after knocking it on a door frame - something which wouldn't have happened before her surgery.

Just 30 years old at the time, she'd never really bothered to check her breasts for lumps before as she considered herself too young to develop anything serious.

Husband Tristan, 36, urged his partner to get the lump checked and, after undergoing various hospital examinations including a lumpectomy test, Davies-Brown was told that she had breast cancer.

"I was devastated," she said. "I just kept crying thinking I was going to die and imagining my children growing up without me."

Shortly after her diagnosis, the beauty technician began six months of chemotherapy and radiotherapy. But was dealt another hefty blow after being told that the cancer had spread to the lymph nodes surrounding her breast.

After undergoing surgery to have five cancerous lymph nodes removed, doctors revealed they were confident she was in remission.

But, her health came at a price, as they advised Davies-Brown that the treatment could have left her infertile.

Davies-Brown, who has one son Brayden, now 12, and a daughter, Macy-Rayn, now five, was disappointed by the news. But was equally thrilled that she had been given the all-clear.

"I was just so happy to be alive. All thanks to my boob job," she said.

Getting her life back on track, she was soon dealt some good news after finding out she'd beaten the odds and was pregnant with her third child.

Araya-Maye is now nine months old and Davies-Brown describes her as her 'second miracle'.

Meanwhile the first miracle was discovering the lump in the first place. Especially as the chances of discovering the lump, which was less than a centimetre in size, were slim.

"My implants saved my life," she added. "I'd ask all women – however young – to check their breasts."

Red Meat Makes You Put On Weight, While Yogurt, Seafood And Nuts Aid Weight Loss, Study Finds

Regularly making small changes to your diet may have a significant impact on long-term weight gain, according to a new study.

Researchers at Tufts University, Massachusetts, found that altering the types of protein and carbohydrate-rich foods a person eats can cause weight gain or weight loss.

The researchers based their findings on three long-term studies from US health professionals which included results from 120,000 men and women over a 16-year period.

The study, published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, found that increasing intakes of red meat and processed meat were most strongly associated with weight gain.

On the flip-side, intakes of yogurt, seafood, skinless chicken and nuts were most strongly associated with weight loss - the more people ate these foods, the less weight they gained.

Altering the amount of other dairy products in a person's diet, including full-fat cheese, whole milk, and low-fat milk, did not significantly relate to either weight gain or weight loss.

"Our study adds to growing new research that counting calories is not the most effective strategy for long-term weight management and prevention," senior author Dariush Mozaffarian said in a statement.

"Some foods help prevent weight gain, others make it worse. Most interestingly, the combination of foods seems to make a big difference.

"Our findings suggest we should not only emphasise specific protein-rich foods like fish, nuts, and yogurt to prevent weight gain, but also focus on avoiding refined grains, starches, and sugars in order to maximize the benefits of these healthful protein-rich foods, create new benefits for other foods like eggs and cheese, and reduce the weight gain associated with meats."

This isn't the first study to suggest meat can play a significant part in weight gain.

Previous research by Harvard University linked both processed and unprocessed meats to inhibiting weight loss.

"Our findings indicate that small dietary and other lifestyle changes can together make a big difference, for bad or good," Dr Dariush Mozzafarian told HuffPost Healthy Living at the time.

"For diet ... eat fewer starches and refined foods like potatoes, white bread, low-fiber breakfast cereals, processed meats, sweets and soda."

Base Jumpers Break Their Backs In 500ft Fall, Make Full Recovery And Start Jumping Again

Two base-jumpers who broke their backs after a horrific 500ft fall have made a remarkable recovery - and started jumping again.

Austin Carey, 23, and Jay Rawe, 25, plummeted onto a riverbank when their parachutes tangled at the Perrine Bridge, Idaho.

They had been attempting a risky double jump when Jay slipped at the last moment and landed on his friend.

Stunned spectators - who recorded the near-fatal fall - could only gasp in horror as they spiralled onto the rocks below.

Both suffered multiple injuries including fractures to the spine - and Austin was told he might not walk again.

But after almost a year of intensive recovery, both men have returned to the sport they love.

And last month - almost a year to the day - Austin retraced his steps by successfully base jumping from the Perrine Bridge.

He said: "It was such an amazing feeling to be back there after everything I had been through and all the work I have put into making my dream of jumping again a reality.

"Because of what happened to Jay and me I've accepted death as a possibility - but I can't dream of a life without doing what I love."

Story continues below...

Austin, from Fort Wayne, Indiana, has no memory of the crushing fall on March 23 last year, but Jay remembers it clearly.

He said: "I remember standing on Austin's shoulders and getting ready while our friends held him there.

"Austin gave the 3-2-1 countdown and I remember falling backwards and trying to jump onto the handrail, missing it, hitting the diving board and starting to flip.

"I grabbed his pilot chute and tried to unwrap his bridle from around my leg. I then landed in his parachute, looked up and saw the sky above me and his canopy flapping around.

"The sound was significantly different from any other base jump and I remember thinking how I needed to get out of that position.

"I kicked my feet over my head, fell out, and remember spinning at the ground as it got closer and knowing that we were gonna hit.

"Next thing I remember is waking up and sitting upright to catch the breath that had been knocked out of me. There were people all around, calling the emergency services, making sure we were staying still.

"Next we were at the hospital and they put me down for surgery and then I woke up with friends in the room.

"Seeing it on film the first few times made my stomach drop out like I was riding a roller-coaster."

Jay suffered a burst fracture of the L1 vertebrae, damage to the T12 and L3 and a sprained right ankle in which the ligament was completely 'torn off the bone'.

Austin's were even more serious. His injuries included a burst fracture of the L1 vertebrae, an incomplete spinal cord injury and his T12 vertebrae was almost split in half.

The pair, who had done almost 500 base-jumps between them, underwent emergency 10-hour surgeries which included Austin having a thumbnail-sized piece of bone remove from his spinal cord and Jay having his T12 and L3 vertebrae fused with titanium.

The road to recovery was even more painful - especially for Austin.

While Jay, from Utah, battled back onto his feet within a few weeks Austin faced the prospect of never walking again.

He spent three months in a back brace and seven months in a wheelchair, taking every opportunity to workout in his high-school swimming pool to strengthen his body.

He said: "The recovery process was insane. At first I could barely get out of bed because of the pain. The whole time I would feel severe nerve pain that would make me scream in agony for hours. It felt as though someone was holding a taser to my legs."

Austin was treated at the Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center Hospital, Idaho and Jay at St. Luke's Magic Valley Medical Center, Twin Falls and Tampa General Hospital, Florida.

With the support of clinicians, physical therapists and their family and friends, they have made dramatic recoveries and returned to the sport that nearly claimed their lives.

But it has led to a few raised eyebrows.

For Austin, whose father died in a motorbike accident when he was two-weeks-old, his mother is his biggest concern.

"She is the strongest, most giving person I will ever meet," said the fitness coach, who plans to move into wing-suit base jumping.

"If something happened to me again I can't imagine what she would go through. But she knows how much this means to me and how much joy it gives me."

Jay, who began base jumping again in October 2014 at Fayetteville, West Virginia, also has no plans to pack up his parachute.

He said: "Giving it up never really seemed like an option to me.

"My family would like me to stop out of the fear that I will injure myself again but life is too short to do the things that I love."

Models: we think of them as impossibly beautiful glamazons with perfect lives, and airbrushed photos do little to persuade us otherwise.

So all hail Chrissy Teigen, the gorgeous Sports Illustrated model who put paid to that by posting a picture of her stretch marks.

On Monday, she showed off her stripes on Instagram and captioned the picture: "Bruises from bumping kitchen drawer handles for a week. Stretchies say hi!"

The post has received over 9.3K likes, with thousands of fans commenting to praise Teigen for promoting healthy ideas around body image.

"I've had stretch marks since I was 12 years old at 5'9". So important for young girls and now 29 year olds to see," one fan writes.

Another adds: "Fair play to her. So many younger teenagers will now feel comfortable if they have stretch marks (like me) #nobodysperfect."

Teigen isn't the only lady helping to end stigma attached to stretch marks.

Last year, two anonymous American mums set up the Instagram account 'LoveYourLines', which aims to empower women and show stretch marks are something to be celebrated.

And last month, mum Rachel Hollis's bikini picture went viral after she stated she was proud of her stretch marks.

Whether you're a mother or not, stretch marks are perfectly normal.

Three cheers for these women promoting body confidence about them!

Police are launching a crackdown on unwanted sexual behavior on London’s public transport with a shocking new video.

The British Transport Police (BTP) found that 90% of such behaviour goes unreported and is now working to change that.

The video, created by the BTP, shows a woman being harrassed by a man on the Underground.

Throughout the video, viewers are repeatedly asked if they would report the behaviour, as the man’s actions become increasingly more sexual.

The victim eventually runs off the train before reporting the incident by texting details to 61016.

The campaign’s website reads: “You can report anything of a sexual nature, including rubbing, groping, masturbation, leering, sexual comments, indecent acts, or someone taking photos of you without your consent.

“You don’t have to prove that it was a criminal offence or intentional to report it, we can investigate that for you.

“No incident is too small or trivial. Our officers are trained to deal with these sort of cases. We will treat you with respect and dignity. You will always be believed and you will always be taken seriously.”

The campaign has already seen over 30% increase in both reporting of sexual offences and suspects caught.

The Report It To Stop It campaign follows on from the success of Project Guardian, launched in association with Transport for London (TfL), the Metropolitan Police and City of London Police.

Project Guardian aims to crack down on unwanted sexual behavior on public transport in the capital.

Report any incidents of unwanted sexual behavior on public transport by texting what happened, where and when to 61016 or calling 101.

Victims are not required to prove whether actions were criminal or intentional - police will take responsibility for investigating the offence.

What makes you feel happy?

The smell of freshly cut grass and the first bite of a chocolate bar we can understand, but... Liz, Phil and co?

the queen prince philip

A new study has revealed the top 50 things that make people in Britain feel great, and surprisingly the Queen and her kin bring up the rear.

The survey of 2,000 people, which was commissioned by Bupa, also revealed that arduous household chores are worth the effort - as the feeling of sleeping in a freshly made bed topped the list, with 62% saying it is their favourite feel great moment.

However, the results also revealed that for the majority of people these moments of "feeling great" were few and far between. Just one in eight (12.5%) said they have a feel great moment more than once a month.

Stress (64%), a lack of sleep (63%), bad manners (51%), financial pressures (50%) and the weather (47%) were the top reasons given for preventing people from feeling great.

Tess Daly is an ambassador for Bupa Feel Great Britain, which will be hosting a series of activities to provide Britons with opportunities for feel great moments.

“We all have those little things that make us feel great – for me it’s feeling the sun on my face," said Daly.

The top 50 things that make people in Britain feel great are:
